Taylor Burgess serves as the Lead Pastor of Cross Community. He and his wife, Emily, were married in August of 2010 and have three young boys, Gideon, Nolan, and Lincoln. Taylor is a native of Boone, NC and attended Appalachian State before transferring to complete his undergraduate degree at Liberty University, where he majored in Religious Studies, and he also holds a Master of Arts (Church Planting & Evangelism) from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary. Emily is a stay-at-home-mom who enjoys caring for their three boys, serving and encouraging other young moms, and running her Etsy shop from home. Called into ministry at age 17, Taylor has nearly 12 years of ministry experience in a wide range of areas including teaching, leading worship, and student ministry, but his greatest passion in life is preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ and seeing lives transformed by its power.
Creative Arts Pastor
Greyson Johnston serves as the Creative Arts Pastor at Cross Community Church. He and his wife, Lauryn, have two kids - Everett (3) and Walker (1) and after a short stint in Winston-Salem, NC after getting married in 2010 have lived in Beaufort since 2012. Greyson was born in Greenville, SC but has lived most of his life in Beaufort, so much that he is pretty much a Beaufortonian. He attended 10,000 Fathers Worship School with Aaron Keyes in 2015 and was featured as a songwriter on 10,000 Father’s first live album “Invitation.” Lauryn is a stay-at-home-mom who kills it at caring for their kids, has gotten crazy good at crocheting, and loves to help and care for new mothers through the newness of parenting. Greyson was called into the worship ministry in high school, but it wasn’t until college that he took heed of that call. He has 10 years of worship ministry experience and has been growing in his craft along with videography, photography, graphic design, and communications.
Greyson’s greatest desire is to see song leaders grow into worship pastors.
Leandra Livesay serves Cross Community as Cross Kids Director. She and her husband Nathan have three kids - Elizabeth (12), Tyler (10) and Troy (4), have lived all over South Carolina in their 16 years of marriage and happily call Beaufort home since 2014. Nathan serves as the Director of Economic Empowerment for World Orphans, a Christian non-profit organization. Over the past 20 years, Leandra has had the privilege of serving on multiple church staffs and sharing Jesus with kids ages birth through college. She loves empowering parents to be the primary spiritual influence in their children’s lives and seeing families grow together in Jesus.

Student Ministry Pastor
Preston Thompson Jr. serves Cross Community as CrossOver Student Ministry Pastor. He and His Wife Nakeisha have 5 Children - Ne’zarha (19), J’coray (18) and D’Avion (17), Christian M’Kayla (9), and Nyxa (7). Being a Veteran of both the USMC and US Army, Preston and the Thompson Family have traveled the east coast extensively in their 18 years of marriage. However, they have permanently called Beaufort their home since 2005. Nakeisha has been Registered Nurse for 10 years and currently works with agape Hospice. Preston Like Leandra has had the privilege of serving on multiple church staffs and sharing Jesus with kids ages birth through college. His passion is to come alongside parents and families to equip and resource them with the goal of discipling their children, so the body of Christ may be built up.
ministry team & community group coordinator
Michael Morrison serves as the Ministry Teams and Community Group Coordinator at Cross Community Church. He and his wife Mallory Morrison were married in April of 2010 and have two beautiful daughters Nora(6) and Vera(1). They have lived in Beaufort since 2011. He is originally from McClellanville, SC. Mallory works at Podiatry Associates as a Receptionist and Administrative Assistant. Michael is currently is attending Liberty University for Biblical Studies. Michael knew God was calling him to ministry when he was a youth. It wasn't until he watched his wife come to know God that he answered God's call to pursue ministry. He loves to do the unseen ministry and to sit one-on-one with people.
Lisa Myers serves as the Operations and Connections Administrator at Cross Community Church. She and her husband Joel have three kids, AJ (18), Trinity (15) and Lauren (13). Joel and Lisa met at Wheaton College where they both earned their undergrad degrees. They have lived all over the country, in Chicago, Philadelphia, Ohio and finally Fallbrook California before moving to Beaufort in 2011. Joel is currently a contracted general surgeon at the Naval Hospital.
Although this is her first time on a church staff, Lisa has utilized her analytical brain and heart for people all across the country in various ways. From teaching high school math in inner city Chicago to serving in leadership roles on three school PTO’s, with lots of volunteering and math tutoring along the way, Lisa loves using her gifts to organize and encourage people of all ages. Lisa’s desire is to not let anyone fall through the cracks and to facilitate the mission of Cross by encouraging people to see the freedom they have in Christ and use their gifts in the church and community to make disciples that make disciples. She is excited that her role on staff gives her a front row seat to experience how God is working in individual lives and impacting Beaufort.
Zane Vickery serves as an intern at Cross Community Church. He and his wife Rebecca have been married since 2015 and hail from Greenwood, South Carolina. They have since had two children, Nelle and Judah, who are only a year apart. The Vickerys moved to Beaufort in the fall of 2017. In the last five years, Zane has had the privilege of partnering in Colorado Springs alongside The Navigators organization , serving as a student pastor, and working as a police officer in the Upstate. Zane has felt the tugs of ministry since high school and loves that he gets to serve at Cross in a multifaceted aspect. He is an avid piano player and writer and a lover of novels, movies, plays, and poetry. Zane’s greatest joy is seeing and celebrating the saving power of the Gospel in those who find their identity in the finished work of Christ.
